Overview Block Irrigation

This control element belongs to the Block Irrigation block. It shows the state of the system and is at the same time the place where programs, start times and factors are set - from the app as well, without the studio.

The element has to be linked to the block: right-click the element, then pick the block. All addresses, the zone names and the number of zones and programs are taken over automatically.

Tile

The ring shows the state: blue while watering, orange during a soak pause, red on a fault, otherwise in the font colour. While the system runs, the ring fills up as the cycle proceeds and the number of the running zone stands in the middle; otherwise the irrigation symbol is shown there. A symbol in the top right corner says whether watering is going on.

While watering, the text above shows the remaining time of the running zone; otherwise the reason why nothing is being watered right now - rain, a running rain delay, frost or wind. If nothing is pending, it shows when the next start is due. The If no schedule exists at all, the tile reads "No time" and the main window "No start time" - the system is then waiting for something that does not exist. The texts are deliberately short so that they are not cut off on the tile.

Main window

Pressing the tile opens the main window. It shows the state, the remaining time, the next start and the water volume of the last run.
  • Program: Steps through the available programs. The program shown is the one the "Start" button runs; if it is already running, that is stated below the label.
  • Start: Starts the selected program immediately.
  • Pause: Holds and lets the run continue afterwards.
  • Stop: Aborts the run and clears the queue.
  • Acknowledge fault: Appears across the full width while a fault is pending and resets it. An edge at input QU of the block does the same.
On a fault the State row names the reason and turns red - "No feedback: Valve 3", for instance. Five symbols in the title bar lead to the other windows.

Clock - start times

The start times are operated as with every block element. Each schedule carries the program it starts as its value; the name of that program is shown. If it reads "No program", the schedule does nothing and does not count as the next start either - a new schedule therefore starts out on program 1. Weekdays, sunrise and sunset, dates, "once only" and the release per presence state are available, as is the import from a calendar.

See Block Clock for how schedules are operated.

List - programs

The list shows all programs with their total run time. The gear opens the settings of the program, pressing the total run time leads straight to the run times of the individual zones, and the "Start" button runs the program immediately. While the program is running the button reads "running" - pressing it again ends that one program, everything else keeps running.

The settings of a program are:
  • Name: Renames the program.
  • Enabled: A disabled program never runs.
  • Days: A filter, not a start condition - watering always happens at a schedule. "By schedule" leaves the weekdays of the start time in charge. "Every n days" waters only every n-th day, "Even days" and "Odd days" follow the calendar day.
  • Interval: Only with "Every n days", two days at the least. Watering every day is what "By schedule" with all weekdays already does.
  • Season: Switches between all year round and a period. When switched on, the usual gardening year is preset; start and end are set below under "Season from" and "Season to" with day and month.
  • Run time correction: Shortens or extends all run times of this program.
  • Weather: Does this program use the weather adjustment?
  • Run times: Leads to the list of zones. There you set how long each zone's valve runs; 0 means the zone does not belong to this program. A new program starts out with one minute per zone so that something happens right away.
In the run time list the gear at the right of every row leads to the settings of that zone. A deselected zone carries a lock symbol in front of its time - it is watered in no program at all.
  • Active: A deselected zone is never watered, in any program. That takes a broken valve or a bed being dug over out of service without losing the run times.
  • Cycle and soak: Against water running off - see Block Irrigation. "None" lets the zone run through in one piece.
  • Moisture from: Above this reading the zone is skipped. Only shown when a soil moisture address is entered for the zone.
  • Where a setting depends on a reading, that reading is shown in brackets after the label - "Moisture from (62.0)" or "Ignore frost (3.5 °C)" for instance. That way you can see what the value refers to while setting it.
  • Output: How much water the zone puts out per minute. The water volume shown is estimated from it. With a water meter on the system it is measured and the row disappears.
  • Ignore rain, moisture, wind, frost: That particular hold does not apply to this zone - for potted plants, covered areas and the greenhouse.
Only what actually has an effect is shown: without a rain sensor there is no "ignore rain", without an outside temperature no "ignore frost".

Person - presence

A program can be assigned to each presence state; it starts when the house switches to that state - for example a more economical program while on holiday. The house symbol turns the assignment for a state on and off; while it is off, the change does nothing. That is the default.

"End only" ends a running cycle on the change without starting a new program.

Gear - settings

  • Rain delay: Sets a delay by hand or ends a running one. It sits at the top because it is needed most often.
  • Delay duration: Only shown while a delay is running. It says how much longer watering is held off and lets you extend or shorten it - the time then starts again from the moment you change it.
  • Seasonal factor: Shortens or extends all run times at once.
  • Per month: Twelve monthly values apply instead of the single seasonal factor. Only what is actually in effect is shown: the seasonal factor with "No", the monthly values with "Yes".
  • Monthly values: Leads to the twelve values.
  • Weather adjustment: Switches on the internal calculation of the weather factor. If an external weather factor is present at the block, the row disappears - the external value takes precedence.
  • Weight temperature, humidity, rain: How strongly each quantity counts; 0 % turns it off. Each row only appears when its reading is actually present at the block.
  • Test all zones: Runs every zone one after another, each only for the minimum run time set on the block. During commissioning that shows quickly whether every valve switches, without waiting out a full watering time.

Chart - log

The log shows the last 32 events with their time. The trash icon next to the OK button clears the list without asking. Recorded are programs started and finished, zones switched on and off, skipped zones with the reason, water meter messages and missing valve feedback. The controller keeps and stores it, a restart does not clear it.
