Overview Settings

Menu Tools – Settings.

The settings apply to the Studio on this computer, not to a project. They are applied with OK and are kept for the next start.

Common

Save project automatically after Saves a modified project after the set time in minutes. An unmodified project is not saved. 0 disables automatic saving (default).
Check for update Checks shortly after the start whether a newer version is available.
Save/restore window position Restores size and position of the main window and the layout of the window areas at the start, as they were when the Studio was closed.
Ask before creating the boot project Asks once more before creating the boot project. The project in the controller is replaced by the open project; this cannot be undone.
Standard Style Style used for new projects and new visualization pages. “Standard” means: no style. See also Styles.
Grid Widget (restart) Size of the handles at the corners and edges of a control used to resize it. Takes effect after restarting the Studio.
Reset default parameters of all controls In the properties window of a control, its settings can be stored with “Standard parameters – save” as the default for new controls of the same type. This button deletes all defaults stored this way.
MCP server port Port of the AI interface, default 7420. 0 disables it. Takes effect after restarting the Studio. See MCP server.
MCP server debug Writes additional log output of the AI interface, for troubleshooting only.

Logic programming

Keep outputs for copy/paste When disabled (default), the variables and names of the outputs are removed when a copy is pasted, so that two blocks do not write the same variable. Inputs are always kept, as are internal connections. When enabled, the outputs are kept as well.
Display diagnostic information in tooltip Additionally shows the internal number and GUID of a block in its tooltip. Useful to assign messages in the diagnostics to a block.
Show consistency messages of online monitoring While a program page is in online monitoring, the controller checks whether the outputs and inputs of the blocks match their variables. A deviation is reported in the diagnostics, once when monitoring is switched on and afterwards only when a new deviation occurs. The check does not change anything in the installation. Default: enabled.

A deviation means that the controller knows a different value than the installation – for example because a telegram was lost, because another participant wrote the variable, or because a start delay prevented sending.

Caution: If this option is disabled, there is no indication at all any more when an output is out of sync with its variable. The deviation still exists, it is just no longer shown. The option should therefore only be disabled temporarily.
Page snap grid Grid in pixels to which blocks on program pages are aligned. Also determines the step size when moving and the offset of a pasted copy.
FB Standard start delay Start delay in seconds that is entered when a new program page is created. Existing pages remain unchanged; there the start delay is set in the page properties. Default: 0.

During the start delay the blocks calculate, but write nothing to their outputs. What was not sent during this time is not made up for later; an output is only sent again with its next change.

Caution – safety implications: If a value greater than 0 is set here, every new program page gets a start delay. After every restart of the controller (power failure, project transfer, update) the blocks on these pages then write nothing to their outputs.
  • Actuators stay in the state they had before the restart, even if the logic now demands something else – pumps, valves, heating, lighting, shading.
  • Protection and interlock functions such as frost protection, wind alarm, interlocks, enables or locks are not sent again after the start. An actuator can therefore remain in a dangerous state.
  • Controller and visualization then show values that differ from the actual state of the installation. This is exactly what the consistency messages of online monitoring report.
Recommendation: leave it at 0. Use the start delay only deliberately and temporarily on individual pages, never with IO modules or safety-relevant outputs.

Automatic connection

Effect If a variable is dragged from the address list onto a control or a block while holding Alt or Ctrl, the Studio fills in the other variables of the element itself. They are calculated from the dropped variable: the set offset is added to the main group (HG), middle group (MG) and sub group (UG). This requires the variables in the project to follow a fixed scheme.
Active Enables the automatic connection for this type. Default: off. When disabled, dragging with Alt or Ctrl only takes over the label.
Sub-tabs Common (switches, buttons, value displays, sliders: status from value), Dimm, Roller blind, Room controller block AW and Room controller block KNX. Each sub-tab contains the offsets for the variables of this type.
