Overview Block Room Controller



Block function block for the control element Block Room Controller; the control element must be connected to this function block. See Block Presence and Presence General.

Alternatively, this room controller can also be used without the Block control element. Therefore, inputs for operating mode, Standby and Night  are also available. These can, for example, also be controlled from a KNX room controller.

Heating / cooling mode sequence

The controller always operates in one mode only, either heating or cooling. Switchover happens automatically via the enable inputs and the switchover thresholds:
  • Heating mode: Activated when Enable heating = 1, no window is open and the room temperature is below the current setpoint (threshold at output Info Switchover heating). The setpoint results from the setpoint of the operating mode + base setpoint heating.
  • Cooling mode: Activated when Enable cooling = 1, the operating mode Comfort is active, no window is open and the room temperature is above setpoint + hysteresis switchover cooling mode + base setpoint cooling (threshold at output Info Switchover cooling). In cooling mode the controller controls to Setpoint Comfort + base setpoint cooling.
Enable heating/cooling: The enables are typically provided centrally by the heat generator (e.g. heat pump): in heating operation Enable heating = 1 and Enable cooling = 0, in cooling operation vice versa. If an enable is set to 0, the corresponding mode is terminated immediately. Unconnected enable inputs are considered enabled (= 1). For systems without cooling, the input Enable cooling should therefore be permanently set to 0, especially if the output Valve heating+cooling is used.

Hysteresis switchover cooling mode: The hysteresis raises the switch-on threshold of the cooling mode. With the default value 0, the controller switches to cooling mode as soon as the setpoint is exceeded (provided cooling is enabled and operating mode Comfort is active). A larger value (e.g. 2) creates a neutral zone between heating and cooling in which both valves remain closed. If both enables are set at the same time, the room temperature determines the mode: below the setpoint the controller heats, above setpoint + hysteresis it cools.

SS Setpoint Standby Setpoint Standby. This input is available for compatibility reasons in case the controller is used via external addresses without the Block control element. Block room controllers have no operating mode; operating mode 1 and Setpoint Comfort are always preselected.
SN Setpoint Night Setpoint Night. This input is available for compatibility reasons in case the controller is used via external addresses without the Block control element. Block room controllers have no operating mode; operating mode 1 and Setpoint Comfort are always preselected.
SF Setpoint Frost Setpoint Frost. If this input is not connected, 5 degrees is automatically set.
BH Base setpoint heating Base setpoint heating mode (is added to the setpoint)
BK Base setpoint cooling Base setpoint cooling mode (is added to the setpoint)
FH Enable heating Enable heating mode. Optional; if the input is not connected, heating mode is always enabled.
FK Enable cooling Enable cooling mode. Optional; if the input is not connected, cooling mode is always enabled. See heating / cooling mode sequence.
OI Offset room temperature Optional offset to the room temperature. This value is added to the input room temperature. This is useful when the correction is to be adjusted via the visualization, so that it does not have to be added via a separate logic.
FK Window contact Window contact (1=Open)
If no variable is connected, the input is ignored, so a variable does not have to be connected.

Two-point or continuous with PI controller. Two-point is used for normal valves, continuous for valves with an analog input.

Reset time I
Reset time for type continuous, integral component of the controller.
Window contact mode
  • Off: When the window is open, all outputs are switched off.
  • Frost protection: When the window is open, the system internally switches to frost protection and controls to the set frost protection temperature.
Invert window contact
Invert window contact; default 1 = window open, inverted 0 = window open.
Window contact time
Time until window open is detected (minimum 1 second).
Hysteresis two-point
Hysteresis of the two-point controller.
Hysteresis switchover cooling mode
Hysteresis switchover to cooling mode. If the room temperature exceeds setpoint + hysteresis, the system switches to cooling mode (default 0). See heating / cooling mode sequence.
Anti-blocking function With this option, the outputs for valves are switched to 1 once per week in order to prevent blocking.
