Overview Block Room controller

This control element controls the room temperature. This control element is available in two variants, Presence operation and Standalone operation (control is performed externally). In the Standalone variant, the settings Clock and Presence are not available. See also Presence general.

The control element is available in two different views, Block and Basic Screen. Depending on the design of the visualization, the element is displayed in the following two variants.



Clicking the control element displays the following dialog:



The slider sets the current room temperature. Below the slider, the state is indicated by the heating or cooling symbol.

The lower elements can be used to recall preset values. These can also be changed. To store new values, set the corresponding values and long-click the element; after 2 seconds the value is saved.

If the room controller is implemented as KNX (control is performed on the KNX bus), the operating mode switchover is displayed instead of the setpoints.


In the title bar of the dialog, the functions Time switch, Presence and Settings are accessible via the respective icons. In the Standalone variant, the settings Clock and Presence are not available.


Time switch


With the Time switch function, the temperature can be adjusted on a time-controlled basis. To add a new switching time, press the symbol at the bottom left; to delete or sort switching times, click the symbol at the bottom right.

Using the calendar icon in the switching time list, switching times can be imported from a calendar file (iCal, *.ics) - via a link (including Google Calendar, Apple iCloud, Google Drive and Dropbox), from a file or from the clipboard. One on (value 1) and one off (value 0) switching time are created per event. The first row shows the symbols for the type of clock and presence. On the left side the type of clock is set. As type you can select Week clock, Date and Sunrise/Sunset. On the right side you set when the clock should be active (dark background means active).

On the right side you set when the switching time should be active. Present, Absent and Holiday. This allows you, for example, to select that a switching time is only executed when you are present, but not when Absent or on Holiday. If none of the three symbols is active, the switching time is not executed; in the overview, Clock disabled is then displayed.

This makes it easy, for example, to implement a setback. When Present, the temperature is lowered in the evening and raised again in the morning. However, this should only happen when you are present; when Absent it is always lowered, and on Holiday it is switched to frost protection.

Under Execute you can select once or always. With once, the symbols Present, Absent and Holiday are deactivated again after execution and thus the switching time is also deactivated.

Presence


Via this dialog, various setpoints can be set when the presence status changes. This function is independent of the time switch and is executed only once when the presence changes.

For example, when switching from Present to Absent or Holiday, the target temperature is adjusted in the example above. When Present, the temperature is set to 22 degrees; when switching to Absent it is lowered to 18 degrees; on Holiday the frost protection temperature of 5 degrees is set.

For each of the three states Present, Absent and Holiday, the respective symbol is used to set whether a setpoint should be executed when switching into that state (dark background means active).

Settings


In this dialog, the frost protection temperature is set. Control is performed to this setpoint when, e.g., the window is open.



Configuration




This control element is available in two variants, Presence operation and Standalone operation. Presence is connected to the corresponding logic block, see function block Structured Room controller,
Standalone without connection. With Presence, the variables are connected to the function block, see also Presence general, with the Standalone variant directly with the control element.
First create the corresponding function block and connect the variables, then right-click the control element and select the function block to connect the control element.
 

This control element
operates a room controller. The room controller is a function block that runs in the background as a program, see function block Room controller; this control element is used to change the setpoints and operating modes. For this, the control element must be connected to the function block. First create the function block, create the variable connections, and then right-click the control element and select the function block from the menu. The variables connected at the function block are thereby automatically connected at the control element as well.

On the control element itself, only status information is displayed; to change setpoints, click the control element in operating mode, and a popup dialog is displayed in which the values can be changed.

Tip: The control element only displays the heating or cooling status when the outputs for heating and cooling are connected at the connected function block. If the outputs are not connected, for example when there is only a common valve for heating and cooling, internal variables must instead be connected so that the status is displayed.



Display

Display Display Block, Basic Screen or List.
TextText to be displayed. The size of the text is scaled automatically with the control element. Line breaks can be inserted with the special character "\n", for example "Line1\nLine2"; a maximum of two lines is possible.


Setpoint

Step size
Step size when pressing the +/- buttons in the popup dialog.
Minimum/MaximumLimit values for the setpoint input; if Minimum and Maximum are set to 0, the limit values are ignored.




Connected variables (Standalone variant only)

Operating mode*
Operating mode switchover; the following operating modes are possible:

  1. Comfort. The setpoint from input "SK Setp. Comfort" is used.
  2. Standby. The setpoint from input "SS Setp. Standby" is used.
  3. Night. The setpoint from input "SN Setp. Night" is used.
  4. Frost. The setpoint from input "SF Setp. Frost" is used.
For values at the input less than 0 or greater than 4, operating mode Comfort is always used.

Tip: If KNX systems have only one setpoint, then it must be connected to all 4 setpoints. If the KNX room controller has a group address for setpoint status, this can be connected as a linked group address to the setpoint. If the feedback of the room controller changes when the operating mode is switched, the setpoint changes accordingly.
